Bronx Rapper Fred The Godson Passes Away After Contracting The Coronavirus



Bronx Native and rapper Fred The Godson passed away today after contracting the coronavirus.


With over 250,000 confirmed cases and over 15,000 deaths in New York State, coronavirus has claimed another victim. Fred The Godson born Fredrick Thomas passed away due to complications of the disease.




In an Instagram photo posted earlier this month, Fred seen pictured in a New York City hospital bed asked for prayers as he confirmed he contracted the virus. Thoughts and prayers went out to the rapper but unfortunately during a press release today, the public received confirmation of his passing.




Fred, a Bronx native was a staple within the hip-hop community. He gained notoriety with his clever wordplay and freestyles on New York radio stations and received accolades from his peers including French Montana and DJ Funk Master Flex.




In 2011 he graced the cover of the hip-hop magazine XXL making their annual "Freshman Class." Although he never signed an official record deal, Fred managed to collaborate with some of hip-hop's biggest rappers gaining respect within the community. He was 35-years-old.
